The Merry Murderino reads… a lot. Almost three years ago a friend introduced me to Goodreads which finally gave me a platform to track and review the 100+ books I get through annually. If you have ever seen a review (of, well, anything really) you are aware of the Star Rating system. 1-
(ew, no, swipe left, etc) to the coveted 5-![]()

(YAAASSSS) has served us tried and true for decades! However, even the star rating system can be interpreted differently by every blogger/reviewer of a book or product – one reviewer may grant 3 stars while another one gives it the all-too-rare 5! In my mind, ratings are super subjective and can range from helpful to useless based on your mood, preferences, and a myriad of other factors!
The tMM Splatter Rating is 1-5 in each category
just like stars except more murdery 🙂

– Book is “character-driven” – These are characters you connect with on a deep level (you want to hang with them, be them, or murder them if you’re the serial killer.)
Twisty-Turns
– “Saw that coming a mile away”

– “Holy Crap!!! I. CAN. NOT. BELIEVE. IT!”
Psych-Links
– Little-to-No Psychological Connections – OR – they ‘mis-diagnose’ (which is easy to do but totally unforgivable – DO YOUR RESEARCH!)

– Excellent deep-dives into the craziness of the Human Mind (love me some solid psychopathology!)
Cine-ability
– Book may be great but wouldn’t translate well on screen.
